Welcome to Mentina Therapies

Dr Jenny Lisshammar
Clinical Neuropsychologist Cognitive and Behavioural Psychotherapist

I work with individuals aged 16 and above, including older adults, offering psychological therapy for areas of focus of anxiety, depression, trauma, adjustment, and acceptance.

I have a specialist background in neuropsychology and spinal cord injury, and often work with people navigating change - whether this follows a diagnosis, injury, or life event, or reflects a quieter sense that something no longer feels as it once did.

Together, we can make sense of what has shifted, what remains, and what may need to change. I also support those who feel ready for change, but are unsure where to begin. My approach is warm, collaborative, and grounded in evidence - supporting you to develop clarity, stability, and a way forward that feels right for you.

Frequently Asked Questions

Considering therapy

How do I know if this is right for me?

You may not be completely sure—and that’s okay. Therapy can be helpful if something feels difficult, unclear, or has shifted in a way that’s hard to make sense of alone. I offer a complimentary 20 minute initial consultation. You’re welcome to get in touch to book thus, to explore whether this feels like a good fit before making your final choice.

What happens after I get in touch?

After you reach out, we will arrange an initial session to understand what brings you to therapy and what you might need. From there, we can think together about whether to continue and how best to work. Before your first session, you will recieve our welcome pack. This includes our full terms and conditions, as well as our onbaording sheet for you.

Do I need a diagnosis or referral?

No referral or formal diagnosis is required. Many people seek therapy simply because something doesn’t feel as it once did, or because they would like support in understanding and navigating change. Recieving a mental health diagnosis can be powerful. It can help you access the right help and care, but can also feel like a "label" that defines you. This is something I actively encourage my clients to think about in therapy.

Can you help with neurological conditions or injury?

I have specialist experience in neuropsychology and work with individuals adjusting to neurological conditions, injuries, and cognitive change, alongside broader psychological difficulties.

Do you offer online sessions?

Yes, I offer online sessions. We can think together about what format feels most comfortable and appropriate for you.

What if I’m not sure where to start?

It’s very common to feel unsure at the beginning. Therapy offers a space to begin wherever you are, without needing to have everything clearly defined in advance. This is something that we will plan and think about together.

Do you work with insurance companies?

I am registered with a number of insurance providers. If you plan to use insurance, you may wish to check your policy details in advance or contact me to confirm coverage.
If you are accessing therapy as part of your insurance claim, please speak with your case manager or legal counsel.
